Saulteau First Nations Development Corporation Model - Mistahiya

The Mistahiya Development Corporation is the umbrella corporation that oversees all the Nation’s entities. As the Saulteau First Nations continues to grow and expand the scopes of work and economic base of the community it is critical that the institutions that are entrusted with the responsibility to manage all of the Community economic opportunities are structured to ensure the greatest value to the shareholder; the community and its members.

Two critical objectives of Saulteau Corporate Model are to position the community for growth and to ensure the maximum financial, environmental and legal protection to the community, its resources and services.

The Mistahiya model positions SFN business to;

  • To take advantage of shared services to reduce the operating costs and improve the competitiveness and profitability of each business
  • Position the community to be able to expand into new areas of commercial interest
  • Provide another layer of economic, legal and environmental protection for the community and its’ resources from any business activity

To maintain consistency across all businesses and minimizing duplication Mistahiya also delivers shared services in the key areas of Finance, Human Resources and Safety. Mistahiya has the dual role of maintaining and growing the existing businesses and exploring new areas of economic growth and interest, which would be brought forward to the Chief, Council and community for support and ratification.

Aski Reclamation Ltd.

Aski Reclamation Ltd. is owned by Saulteau First Nations and supported by the BC Oil and Gas Commission (OGC).

There are 9,000 abandoned and suspended wells that require reclamation services in the northeast BC area.

Each well is a possible reclamation job for Aski Reclamation. Aski started with a pilot project in fall 2018 and in 2019 moved into construction of a wetland and the installation of native plants.

Aski is building capacity through reclamation installation training and establishing work on mine sites and oil and gas pipeline locations.

4 Evergreen Resources LP (4EG) is the officially designated and authorized flagship company for the Saulteau First Nations for natural resource development opportunities. Saulteau First Nations is the sole shareholder.

We are a construction management and procurement company for oilfield, mining and forestry related activities.

Our key ingredient is the people behind the company and our excellence is solidly anchored in people-based strategies.

We offer our clients project certainty, worry-free social license, as well as an opportunity to harness local knowledge as a low-cost leader for our clients.

Mountain Time Industrial Services

The Saulteau First Nations and West Moberly First Nations, with the support of Walter Energy Inc., established the Twin Sisters Native Plants Nursery at Moberly Lake, British Columbia, Canada in 2012 with a goal of being a leader in native plant propagation and distribution in the province. Twin Sisters Native Plants Nursery is meeting an established need in an existing market by supporting the improvement of restoration and reclamation work in Northeastern BC.

The purpose of the nursery is to propagate and distribute native plant species for ecological restoration and remediation of mining and other industrial projects while incorporating First Nations values and beliefs. Through our use of native plants, we can ensure the long-term ecological health of British Columbia through the restoration of disturbed landscapes.
