Job Purpose

The Night Security Guard contributes to the success of the Saulteau First Nations (SFN) safety and security framework by deterring theft, entry, and vandalism to SFN buildings, offices, and work project sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive around the properties nightly, patrolling and monitoring for any unusual activity and reporting it to law enforcement officers and supervisor as necessary
  • Enforcing property rules and other applicable laws
  • Ensuring “no entry, private property, stop, and yield” signs are set up and visible
  • Deterring theft, entry, and vandalism to SFN buildings, offices, and work project sites
  • Maintaining a presence to ensure the safety and security of all areas within the security guard’s purview
  • Complete reports and memo book entries on a regular basis
  • Responding to various types of emergencies (fire alarms/medical emergencies)
  • Responding quickly and effectively when required to ensure outstanding quality service
  • Able to phone 911 and adequately explain a situation at hand
  • Maintain personal safety at all times
  • Act as a safety role model within the community

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Completed Security Training Program through the Ministry of Justice
  • Other related qualifications or experience may be considered
  • CPR, First Aid
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Self-starter and able to work unsupervised
  • English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be willing to participate in emergency response training
  • Criminal Records check and vulnerable sector clearance required
  • Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
  • Valid driver's license and use of reliable vehicle for work-related duties
  • Confidential and trustworthy

 

Work Conditions

  • Travel around the community and surrounding area is required
  • Use of own vehicle is required
  • Works primarily alone
  • Hours of work are generally 7pm to 7am;
  • Shift is 1 week on and 1 week off
