Community Update

January 25, 2021

Please be notified that Saulteau First Nations will be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Due to the shortages nation-wide, we are limited on the number of vaccines that we will be receiving. We were just notified today that we will be getting 30 doses of the Moderna Vaccine within the next 2 days. That allows us until this Friday, January 29th, to utilize these 30 doses. This is a very fast roll-out for our health staff, so we appreciate your patience as we make this process run as smoothly as possible.

The vaccines are allocated for on-reserve members only. As per BC’s immunization plan, we are in Phase 1 (see the image at the top of the page). We will begin with elders over the age of 80, moving on to 70+, and then 65+. If there are vaccines left over after these populations are addressed, we will move on to our high-risk chronic disease populations.

 Please note:

    • We are unable to immunize off-reserve members- there are no exceptions to this
    • We do not have a timeline of when we will be receiving more vaccines
    • Once we are informed of the next available shipment of vaccines, the community will be notified promptly
    • We will contact you if you are eligible to set up an immunization appointment for the Phase 1 rollout of vaccines this week

Please remember, if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, please self-isolate and contact the COVID-19 Online Clinic and Information Line for Northern BC residents: 1-844-645-7811, or contact your primary care provider.

Please be kind and be vigilant during this difficult time.  Keep your circle small, practice physical distancing, wash or sanitize your hands often and wear a mask if you must go out.

Thank you,

Saulteau First Nations
