Field Technician - Aski Reclamation

Primary Purpose

Assist the Aski Reclamation team to restore industrial disturbance back to a natural state, focusing on end land use goals that are culturally important and ecologically suitable. The Field technician role is responsible for plant material collection and installation, and manual labour in all weather conditions and terrain. The field technician is responsible for showing up fit for duty, helping the team to meet goals, and helping the employer in maintaining a safe workplace by mediating concerns with upper management and practicing safe work habits.

Accountabilities                                                                                         

·Learn plant species specifically required for plant installation.

·Collecting plant materials during the lifespan of the project and installation of said materials.

·Willing to learn different planting techniques including willow staking, island planting, density planting and seeding.

·Attend and participate in daily safety meetings, tailgate meetings, and other job-related safety requirements.

·Actively involved in upholding and contributing to Aski’s values and knowledge for land and culture.

·Operates, maintains, and ensures that all assigned vehicles, tools and equipment is kept clean and operational as per Aski procedures and policies.

·Works with management team and client to ensure the maintenance of a safe and orderly workplace or worksite (good housekeeping practices)

·At the end of each workday or work shift, perform all required maintenance functions and tasks to ensure that their assigned piece(s) of equipment and tools are prepared and ready for the next workday, work shift, or cross shift.

·Participate in safety and hazard assessments, accident investigations, submit documents and required forms, and/or reports.  

·Must be ready, willing and available to work on short notice, sometimes in remote locations and cold weather conditions.

Education & Qualifications

·Preferred Class 7 driver license with a clean driver’s abstract

·Have H2S Alive, WHMIS, and OFA 1

·Knowledge and ability to use a GPS.

·Work in the field with small groups as a team player

·Must be able to work in uneven terrains and adverse weather conditions.

·Physically fit – requires lifting, walking, bending and reaching.

·Must complete required Aski training and safety orientations

Note

Preference will be given to Saulteau First Nations Band Member although only the most qualified individuals will proceed to the hiring process.
